I'mma gonna explain this the best way I know how, through Batman references!!

Coke Zero is basically the Nightwing of the Coke family. He grew up and he wanted to get out on his own but, unlike Nightwing, he left on a bit of a sour note.

When Coke Zero decided he wanted to strike out on his own and make his own name, he swore off anything Coke-related, he didn't want to be affiliated with the family anymore. Basically, he's the douche of the family, he pretends he doesn't want anything to do with them, but he always shows up for dinner on Spaghetti Friday.
